Your iPhone’s camera has a feature that instantly translates text you take a picture of. We explain how to use it.
There are a myriad of tricks to using your iPhone like a boss. The photo module is notably full of interesting functions such as professional photo editing , exposure adjustment or the famous stereo recording . This time we draw your attention to the “Live Text” feature available on the iPhone Xs, iPhone Xr and all newer iterations. This allows you to copy, share, search and translate the text that appears in your lens. Pretty handy, isn’t it?
How to Use Live Text on iPhone?
- Start by launching the camera and then frame the text you want to translate. A small yellow frame will then appear next to the spotted text.
- Click on it to perform the operation of your choice. Note that it is also possible to select only part of the text by keeping your finger pressed on it.
- You can copy the text to paste it into another application, search the Web from the identified text, share it with your contacts via a third-party application, and therefore translate it.
- It’s also possible to carry out the procedure from a photo already taken.
Whether it’s road signs, restaurant menus or explanatory cards in a museum, this feature can be of great help to you abroad. The translation window that opens also allows you to copy the translated text if you need to keep it.
If your iPhone supports Live Text but you can’t find the feature, make sure it’s turned on. To do this, follow the following path: Settings > General > Language and region > Activate Live Text .
